Synopsis
Zuzanna Ginczanka was born at the height of the Russian Revolution in Kiev, which in 1917 became the capital of the Soviet Ukraine. She grew up in the newly independent Poland, a region of today's Ukraine, before moving to Warsaw to fulfill her literary destiny. But the outbreak of the Second World War forced her to go into hiding in Lviv, which was invaded by Soviet Russia and captured by the Nazis in 1941. Three years later, at the age of 27, she was murdered in a Krakow prison.
Zuzanna Ginczanka belonged to the first generation of Jewish intelligentsia to be formed in Poland, in a geography that has now disappeared, in a territory that is once again bloody. We have decided to recount her poetry and her life in reverse, from her death to her birth. A time invented in the present to retrace a dazzling trajectory embodied in her sensual, feminist and rebellious work.
